With 3 weeks left until the tournament I now have a few more details to release. Firstly it’s been given an official title, it will be known as the 1st Arab Club Championship, and we have an official logo (above), which gives it a nice professional feel. The tournament will be from 3rd-7th of April, and involve 6 teams, split into 2 groups. The full schedule can be seen below. The clubs will be made up of predominantly players with origins of the country they represent, however teams are allowed to add 6 import players. It’s expected the tournament will be televised on an Arab sports channel and broadcast across the Arab world. We also expect diplomats from respective countries to be in attendance.

From a personal perspective, it’s been difficult. I’ve been unable to find sponsorship so have had to pay for uniforms out of my own pocket. We had a lot of interest initially from players but have had many drop outs. Some are still involved in playoffs with their league teams, some have exams, some have got injuries and some simply can’t afford the air fare. We will only have two players who competed in the African Cup in Morocco, and will be missing captain and head coach Harond Litim. This tournament Ali Khaldi will be head coach, Ali played division 1 in Sweden with Vasby back in the 80’s. For the first time I expect the largest group of players will be young Algerians from Canada, after previous years of being made up of mostly French Algerians.

More details as they come, remember to keep an eye on my social media.
